Canopy Flats

Brief

Canopy Flats was designed to reflect the character of Overland Park, Kansas, with an identity inspired by the city's tree-lined streets, nearby arboretum, and history as a stop along the overland trails. The name references both the natural canopy created by the area's mature trees and the sense of shelter and connection they provide. The result is a brand that feels clean, contemporary, and closely tied to its location.

The identity was inspired by the property's interior design. A textile used throughout the building featured an abstract, tree-like form that became the basis for the custom logo. That shape was then expanded into a larger graphic system, influencing custom frames and supporting brand elements. The angular geometry, warm neutral palette, and metallic accents reflect the finishes found throughout the community, creating a strong connection between the brand and the physical space.

The final identity was applied across leasing materials, marketing collateral, signage, and digital communications, creating a consistent brand experience from first impression to move-in. Every element was designed to reflect the community's modern aesthetic while reinforcing its connection to the surrounding landscape and architecture.
