Overview

As the final phase of Fishers District, The Union was envisioned as the neighborhood's cultural and social hub. This mixed-use development brings together luxury residences, retail, dining, office space, and hospitality into a walkable destination. The challenge was to create a brand that complemented the established Fishers District identity while giving The Union its own recognizable presence.

The brand was built around the idea of connection by bringing together people, places, art, and shared experiences. A collection of large-scale murals by local artists became the foundation for the creative direction, inspiring a visual language that celebrates creativity while positioning The Union as a destination for culture, commerce, and everyday life.

From the beginning, I wanted the identity to feel handcrafted rather than purely digital. To reinforce the neighborhood's connection to art, I incorporated relief monoprinting into the brand development process. Ink was applied to hand-carved printing blocks to create a series of one-of-a-kind prints, each with its own texture and imperfections. Those original prints became the foundation of the brand's texture system, adding warmth, movement, and character throughout the visual identity while reflecting the individuality of the community itself.

Through research, storytelling, and visual strategy, a flexible brand system was developed to support every stage of the project. The identity extended across wayfinding, signage, marketing collateral, leasing materials, digital communications, and environmental graphics, creating a cohesive experience while remaining connected to the broader Fishers District brand. The result was a visual identity that balanced consistency with individuality and demonstrated how thoughtful design can shape not only how a place looks, but how people experience it.
